Kia ora koutou,
I am Fraser Smith. I am a past and present story teller. I also sing songs of my own and other’s and perform these on stage.
I have been a primary school teacher and Principal for over forty years… and have sung and played on stages for even longer.
I still using stories and songs as part of teaching today.
I have recently completed the last of a trilogy of stories about a boy called Awatea and his life in 1960 and beyond. The stories sprang from ones I told to kids on camps, and around camp fires on remote beaches in the far north. I tried them out on kids in schools for a long time before having them accepted for publishing by Huia. Kids were my critics.
I think I have somehow trained myself to find stories, and write for fun!
